Katrina remains one of the worst disasters in US history.
Not just because of the force of a Category 5 hurricane, not just because the levees were breached, but because the citizens of New Orleans were abandonned for days on end. Katrina demonstrated what happens when we are not prepared for natural disasters. The man-made disasters that follow are a horror to behold.
On this fourth anniversary of Katrina, stop and remember the terrible suffering and needless loss of life.
